Here at Ludovic Potts Restorations, we employ a traditional “stuff and stitch” technique for antique furniture upholstery. This entails using horsehair and fibre, along with replacement springs. Canvas and webs are usually removed and replaced when we carry out a re-seat. We normally use wool, feather and down for replacement cushions and padding. Traditional tacks will be used most of the time rather than staples, unless it is inappropriate to do so.
